The 2023 National Children Leadership Conference, hosted by the Children of Africa Leadership and Values Development Initiative (CALDEV), was a vibrant platform for nurturing future leaders. Held in Abuja, this impactful event brought together young minds from across Nigeria, uniting them under the theme of leadership, values, and nation-building.

The conference sought to equip the next generation with skills, knowledge, and character to lead with integrity and purpose.

Under the leadership of Representative Bamidele Salam, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, CALDEV has been deeply involved in the task of advocating for the rights and privileges of the Nigerian children and advancing as well as amplifying their voices.

In the 2023 episode of the conference, a notable highlight was the presence of Vice President, Sen. Kashim Shettima, whose attendance underscored the importance of investing in youth leadership. In his address, the Vice President emphasized the pivotal role of young people in shaping the future of Nigeria. He encouraged the children to aspire for excellence, embrace hard work, and cultivate a deep sense of responsibility. Shettima’s words were both inspiring and motivating, reinforcing the government’s commitment to youth development.

Throughout the event, children engaged in various leadership workshops, discussions on values, and interactive sessions designed to broaden their understanding of leadership in a diverse and dynamic society. CALDEV’s initiative was praised for promoting leadership that is deeply rooted in African values while addressing contemporary challenges.

The 2023 National Children Leadership Conference left an indelible mark on its young participants, sparking a renewed sense of purpose in them to lead change and contribute to a more united and prosperous Nigeria.

The 2024 conference promises to be more robust as it is building on the success story of the earlier editions.
